Derp Productions CB Fork

An unofficial build of WSJT-CB for FT8 on CB. It runs on Windows 7 to 11, supports longer and event callsigns, and installs alongside the program you already use.

Still on the original WSJT-CB 1.5.0? That release is no longer supported. Replace it with the latest Derp Productions CB Fork. Your settings and logs come across automatically.

    What's new in 1.3.0

Patched 6 Nov 2026: fixes for a few UI and scaling issues. Already on 1.3.0? Download it again to get the fixes.

    New

    • Event callsigns, like 330AT/SC2 or 14RC/SC11. Settings › General has a separate “Use event callsign” box under My Call. Tick it to go on air with your event call, untick it to go back to your normal one.
    • “Always accept event callsigns” shows other stations' event calls. When it's off, decodes with event calls are hidden.
    • A call only counts as an event call when the part after the “/” starts with an event tag from the calendar (preset: SC for Santa Claus). Island calls like 14RC/SC are never treated as event calls and are never hidden.
    • Event calendar (Tools › Event calendar), fully offline. Add your own events, dates, callsign tags and colours. Easter dates are worked out for you each year. While an event is on you get a notice, the status bar shows it, and its calls appear in the event's colour.
    • The support email in the About box has a “Copy text” button.

    Changed

    • Event support only switches on when “Use event callsign” or “Always accept event callsigns” is ticked. With both off, everything works exactly as in 1.2.1.
    • Dark mode redone in Derp Productions colours (charcoal, graphite and ember orange) with brighter, easier-to-read text. Highlighted decodes use deep tones with white text, and the clock is bronze. Light mode is unchanged.
    • Callsign boxes in Settings get a red border when the entry isn't valid, so it shows in dark mode too.
    • If a station on an older version keeps sending only the two callsigns after your report, the status bar tells you. You decide whether to finish with RR73 (Tx4). Nothing is sent automatically.

    Good to know

Official WSJT-CB 1.4.1 can't send reports to long or event callsigns, and it cuts event callsigns short when logging. That's a limit of the official version and can't be fixed from this one.

    Compatibility

Works with what you already have

The fork works alongside other CB programs and installs into its own folder, so your current program stays exactly as it is. On first start it copies your existing settings and logs, so you're ready to go straight away.

Confirmed with: earlier Derp Productions CB Fork versions, Nexus, and the original WSJT-CB 1.4.1.

    Install

    Install in four steps

    1. Download the zip

Click Download, then use the download button on the MediaFire page.

    2. Extract it

Right-click the zip and choose Extract All.

    3. Run the installer

Use win64-setup.exe on 64-bit Windows, or win32-setup.exe on 32-bit Windows.

    4. Start it up

On first start it copies your existing settings and logs. Read the two-page startup notice once, and you're on air.

    History

    Earlier versions

The full technical list of code changes is in the source folder of every download.

    1.2.1
    • Fixed a false “EU Russia” label, and the wrong country and continent filtering it caused, on short reports and sign-offs like “26AT101 R-05” and “26AT101 RR73”.
    • The About box, splash screen and startup notes appear in Italian when installed in Italian. The title-bar credits follow the installer language.
    • Windows file properties show the program name, with the original copyright kept.
    1.2.0
    • New name, Derp Productions CB Fork, with its own version numbers.
    • Credits to the original developers in the title bar.
    • Two-page startup notice with the support email.
    • Derp Productions logo on the program, installer, startup notice, splash screen and About box.
    1.1.0
    • Optional weak-signal filter in the Decode menu. Off by default. When on, it hides decodes weaker than the slider level (-30 to +10 dB).
    • Help menu entry for this fork's About box, with links to the official WSJT-CB site.
    1.0.0 — first release
    • Runs natively on Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 11, 64-bit and 32-bit, including older CPUs. AVX is used only when available.
    • CB callsigns extended to 1–3 letters in the middle and 1–4 digits at the end, with any prefix length (for example 123ABC1234).
    • Old-version compatible mode, so long callsigns work with everyone, including stations on older WSJT-CB versions. Adds a “Heard by” indicator.
    • Contacts with WSJT-CB 1.4 stations whose sign-off arrives cut short are completed and logged.
    • Reports to long callsigns are no longer cut short.
    • Up-to-date root certificates, so HTTPS spotting works on Windows 7.
    • Its own install and data folders, so it installs next to official WSJT-CB. On first start it copies your WSJT-CB settings and logs. It never moves them.
